Power in the Word with God in the Beginning

"He was with God in the beginning."

Moses saw creation in the beginning, but God took John further back in time. John saw things before the creation. And he saw that "in the beginning was the Word." It's powerful when I sit back and try to imagine all this. Moses said, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." But John saw that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God. Creation came only afterward.

They talked of the same thing but saw differently. So, I imagine "the beginning" covered a lengthy stretch of time, especially when John saw things prior to creation---specifically, when "the Word was with God."  He saw the companionship, relationship and fellowship of the Word and God. He tried to stress this by repeating, "He was with God in the beginning." I see an effort of emphasis here, an accentuation of God and the Word together for a period. A powerful Kingdom principle can be glimpsed here.

What really impresses me is that, intimacy with God makes you see things others don't. Moses saw what happened in the beginning and John saw what happened before that. John probably saw more in-depth because Christ was in him. Moses saw through the Spirit on him, but John saw because of the Spirit in him.

That's the nature of the Word---it is designed to be with God from the beginning so that when the Word is in you, it always makes you intimate with God so you see the unusual in the Spirit. It enables you to walk with God in his realms and see what he sees. Then it becomes a lifestyle. You don't operate anymore in the ways of the world but in God's supernatural ways. It is intimacy no less than being one flesh with God in Christ. It's what makes the true church unique, so radically different from the world.

Such intimacy leads to something powerful in the Spirit, like the creation of the universe. Intimacy with God through the spoken Word births new beginnings, even calling into existence that which does not exist, commanding life from chaos, formlessness and emptiness. And because "The Word was God," believers filled with the spoken Word becomes HIS genuine sons and daughters. Remember, God was (and is) the Word. You cannot have God's seed and remain mere human. Remember, the Word was God and was with God in the beginning.

Now, how saved mortals can neglect the spoken Word of God and be busy with other things in church is beyond me. Or be busy with other things in life. It was not music or anything else that was with God in the beginning. It wasn't even church or ministry. It was the Word. No genuine church or ministry can begin without understanding that everything emanates from the Word.

A lot of ministries began with a desire to answer people's needs while all the while neglecting the Word. With the Word, you begin by being with God, and from that creation proceeds. You cannot begin with creation and make God coincidental. Or begin with creation and then settle for your daily 15-minute bible devotions. You need to be with God in the beginning before anything else if the Word is really in you.

You have to soak deep in God and in the Word.

Most of them begin without the Word---or simply get a glimpse of it, thinking it enough---and then proceed right away with what they think is creation. However, all they come up with is activity that increases and expands to more activities, but with zero life. No genuine new creation in Christ---defined as "the old is past, the new has come." No more old you. But what they "create" is a mixture of the old and new and justify that with their human theology. They say mouthfuls of God's Word but they really don't believe most of it.

What they always prioritize is what Christ included in the "all these things shall be added unto you" package and neglect the real meat of the matter, which is "seek first God, his righteousness and his kingdom." They all work hard for the result, which we really don't need to do or put any effort into because they're already a given once the first is done---which is seek God and his all---or be with God in the beginning, as the Word was with God in the beginning.

We should leave the results to God and focus on obeying his Word.

All that churches do is work for the bonus. Bonus is bonus---you don't have to work for it. It's freely and automatically given when you do the real work. But what churches do is work hard year in and year out for the bonus. Doesn't make sense. Jesus said, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish it." And what was this specifically?
"The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." [John 6.29]
As simple as that. In other words, the work is simply to believe. And it's something like how the Word was with God in the beginning. The Word is designed to make this true in believers' lives---be with God through the Word and spend life with him. That's what it means to "believe in the One he has sent." No wonder Jesus urged the apostles to stay in Jerusalem and wait for the gift of the Father. They were not to do anything---not do any ministry even---until they have been with God in his very awesome, powerful Presence.

You cannot neglect the Word---or be shallow in it---and claim you are connected to God in Christ.
