Jesus' Great Commission 3: Materialistic World Defeated Through the Radical Jesus Life

Second Part Here

Peter didn't like the idea how Jesus would suffer a lot, be humiliated and killed. He corrected Jesus about it. But Jesus rebuked him, equating him with Satan because his mind was only on man's concerns, not God's. Anything that serves only human needs and concerns is satanic, says Jesus, and that's where the church is headed for---man's glory. It has nothing to do whatsoever with Jesus' great commission, though they may be actively involved in "evangelism."

That isn't God's plan at all.

God's Strategy for Kingdom Come

For the Kingdom to come (Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven), the church needs to live the Beatitudes on a natural, daily basis, where being least is glorified, being allied with the weak, the oppressed and belittled. Go over the Sermon and you'd see how God sees "Thy Kingdom come" coming about. It comes when we finally appreciate that having nothing is possessing everything. That's a vital part of Jesus' great commission.

3 We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. "Having nothing but possessing everything." You get the idea? The picture here is crystal clear. In these last days, God plans to defeat the materialism of the world (Satan will use materialism to deceive the elect, if possible) with  Jesus' radically simple LIFE. It's NOT a life of poverty but a life with no money problems---a life of supernatural provisions and abundance as Jesus showed it in the Gospel. It's a genuine abundant life but thoroughly destitute of any trace of materialism. It uses money but not overwhelmed by it.

The Genuine Jesus Discipleship

"I came that you may have life, and have it abundantly." When he said that, he didn't look anything like the rich of this world but nonetheless enjoyed an abundance the world was a complete stranger to. This is the kind of LIFE believers should be discipled into. Kingdom come is a LIFE of abundance while not looking anything like the rich and wealthy of this world.

Genuine discipleship is living the radically simple, supernatural, holy and powerful LIFE of Jesus Christ---totally giving up everything, emptying ourselves and taking the form of a slave. This is the genuine Jesus' great commission. Church should understand this. Without this light, churches would just misuse discipleship to grow their own empires, their petty earthly denominations---a way to keep their members intact, not really for "Thy Kingdom come" purposes.

If you need the basics of Christianity first, you may take a look at these lessons (click here). But after a while, you need to go advanced and study in-depth about Kingdom LIFE and Jesus' great commission about the Kingdom and the concomitant disciple-making.

True discipleship is life-to-life. It's not a local church program. It is LIFE. The aim is die to self spiritually so that "I no longer live but (it is) Christ who lives in me." It's CHRIST in you the hope of glory--that's Jesus' great commission. He said, "I am the way, the truth and the LIFE." The great commission is the propagation of the Kingdom LIFE---the Jesus LIFE---in one body with each part having the same DNA of the LIFE.

You see then, Jesus' great commission is a smooth flow from Thy Kingdom come to Make disciples of all nations. It's the Alpha and Omega of God's last move on earth.
